About SBS
SBS was established over 30 years ago in the United Kingdom, to provide independent development engineering consultancy services to UK and international oil and gas (O&G) industry clients in the specialist areas of marine and subsea development engineering. The Company also has a low-carbon, renewable energy industry capability, specialising in ocean energy tidal-stream projects where our core O&G skills and knowledge are synergistic and directly transferable to ocean energy power-generation projects. In November 2015, SBS established the first ocean energy Independent Power Producer in Indonesia for a 150MW tidal-stream facility.

SBS is a UK-based marine and subsea development engineering and project management consultancy with a focus on projects in South East Asia. We have been supporting our many South East Asian clients from the UK since 1998. The Company established its first South East Asian branch office, SBS INDONESIA, in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2004. Subsequently, SBS (THAILAND) Ltd was formed in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2008, followed by SBS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2010. Our next office opening will be: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Since 2012, we have become progressively more focused on renewable ocean energy power generation developments. Following completion of a technical concept definition and pre-feasibility study in 2015, SBS signed an MoU with State-owned Electrical Utility, PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), for the exclusive rights to develop 3 prime, tidal energy sites.
SBS is progressing Indonesia’s first commercial-scale ocean energy power generation facility – known as the Nautilus Ocean Energy Project. Having completed the main feasibility study in 2016, we received a draft Power Purchase Agreement from PLN and plan a comprehensive, 36-month development engineering phase. During this period we will carry out additional offshore site surveys and FEED works for the project. Following completion of detail engineering; turbine and power cable manufacturing, we plan to install Phase I., with initial capacity of 10MW, expanding to 70MW (Phase II.) through to 150MW (Phase III.) during the following three years. Total estimated development cost is: US$380m.
